Business Casual elegance

Updated: May 24, 2020

How to define Business Casual and when should you wear it? Business Casual is a touch more relaxed than the Business Formal code but dressier than Smart Casual. So I think of it a bit like the “in between” style. Personally I’m in Business Casual mode when I have no client meetings and no important internal meetings during the day. You’ll have more options with the Business Casual code and it will allow you more freedom to express your own style. But it’s also the most challenging code as the balancing act will be more tricky. You need to look professional and relaxed. And the variety of possible options and style could work against you if you don’t strike that balance right.

Black & white business casual work outfit for women

To create a Business Casual look I paired a black and white cropped top from #Guess bought during this last summer sale season with my high-waisted black #COS pants. A timeless style and my absolute favorite at the moment. They are made from drapey crepe with a mid-weight textured quality. I especially love the wide-leg fit, it makes it simply elegant.

I’m passionate about the meaning of colors and the impact it can have on our image at work. Black & white is definitely one of my favorite. Black stands for power, strength and authority. While white reflects a positive, peaceful and open image. Combined together, black and white portray confidence, coolness and ultimate elegance. Perfect combination to wear if you want to cultivate a professional image at work.

The Atto white leather sling-back pumps from M. Gemi

To create an overall coherent and unified look, I combined my outfit with these white beauties from M.Gemi’s. I spotted them on Instagram and bought them during my last business trip. I love the modern and flattering deep V topline. They have a walkable heel of 65mm and leather-covered elastic strap ensures a comfy and secure fit. They come also in black, stone and wine. For this fall they have released a closed version, The Vetta, in these three colors.

To create an overall coherent and unified look: small details make the difference!
